My own insurer wants me to provide them with a statement about the accident, should I do this?

August 5, 2011 / Category: Motor Vehicle Accidents

Before providing a statement to any insurer you should consult with an experienced personal injury lawyer!

You can provide your own insurance company with a statement about the details of the accident and any injuries you sustained as a result of the accident. You have a duty to cooperate with your own insurance company. I recommend having legal advice prior to such statement.

You have no obligation and generally should not speak with the insurance company for any other party to the accident, and certainly not without consulting with an experienced personal injury lawyer.

Remember insurance companies will try to limit your claim as much as possible and will be asking questions with this in mind.
