Youth Dies in Ancaster Crash

An 11-year-old girl is dead following a single car rollover Friday night in Ancaster.

The truck police say was driven by her step-father, left Jerseyville Road West, west of Hwy 52 at 11:30 p.m., rolled into a ditch, struck a tree and came to rest at the side of the road.

Three adults from Hamilton were taken to hospital. The child was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim’s mother suffered non-life threatening injuries. A female friend remains in critical but stable condition.

The 54-year-old driver has been arrested for impaired driving causing death and two counts of impaired driving causing bodily harm. He remains in hospital. Charges are pending.
